Waiting My Turn by The Connells
off of the One Simple World album
The song is actually played a half step lowere than shown here
but this is the easier way to play it. If you want to play
along then transpose it down a half step.
The opening riff is the bass notes G F# C C C D G
(If you can't get it listen to the song-- that goes for
everything here.)
This same riff is used for the verse but with chords.
Use a full G, full G with F# bass, Cadd9(?), and D
Full G:--o-- G with F#:--o-- Cadd9:--o--
--o-- --o-- --o--
----- ----- -----
----- ----- -o---
-o--- ----- --o--
--o-- -o--- -----
The chorus is C G D D C G C
The outro is G C D G C D which changes to Em C D G Em C D G
after the first time through
Here's the song:
G G/F# Cadd9 D
I asked her to stay here with me a while, Oh she said no
These words mean nothing these thoughts won't fly, O she said no
And where would this lead us to anyway, O she said no
Well I crossed the line in half the time and that's insane
O she said
C G D D C G D(not C as above)
Hey now keep yourself in town, won't you?
And daylight keep yourself in sight, won't you?
G G/F# C add9 D
So I asked her to come back some other time, O she said no
These words ring holloow these thoughts aren't mine, O she said-
C G D D C G C
Hey now keep yourself in town, won't you?
And daylight keep yourself in sight, won't you?
outro:
G C D G C D
So I'm sitting here and waiting my turn, Oh well maybe next time
G C D Em C D G
So I'm sitting here and waiting my turn, Oh well Maybe next time
Em C D G Em C D G
Maybe next time, I will learn, oh yes
Maybe next time I will learn.
Chorus
Outro
The first Em in the outro falls on the Maybe.
Good luck understanding this all. Thanks to Ben Foster for
figuring this out with me.
See ya,

Connels - Waiting My Turn off "One Simple Word"
Capo on 4rd fret and low E string tuned to D. Chords will be writtin as if the
4th fret was the nut (ie - a D is an F#) The idea during the verses is to let
the base note ring out over the D chord. I usually hit the bass note by itself
and then play the whole chord. Also, sometimes I leave out the F# on the
first string.
