"Pandora's Golden Heebie Jeebies"
(Gary Alexander)
Jim Yester, in the liner notes to the Japanese _From The Original Master
Tapes_ CD (Warner/Pioneer WPCP-3536):
A very flippant title for a very inspired song. Influenced by Jules'
involvement in Eastern Philosophy, this was one of the songs that
prompted Timothy Leary to comment that the group was a major contributor
to the spiritual awareness of the youth of the day.
Notes from AWR:
a) I've transcribed this in D even though it sounds about 3/4 step sharp;
b) the bass holds a D pedal through the entire song.
Intro:

Verse 1:
Dm7 [xx0565] G/D [xx0787]
I have walked along the paths of dark and light
Dm7 G/D
And I have seen the sunrise and I've seen the night
Dm7 G/D
I've seen the calm before the storm and then the fight
Eb/D [xx0343]
And now I see the sparrows as they begin to fly
Dm [xx0765] Cm/D [xx0543]
And all that's left for me to do
Dm
Is cry
Verse 2:
I've had my view of happiness and my view of despair
I've cleaned out all the cobwebs and I've learned how to compare
I've seen all of the circles and I've had my last affair
And now I see the sparrows as they begin to fly
And all that's left for me to do
Is cry
Chorus:
111
Bb/D [xx0010] Ab/D [xx0898]
Thinking that I was lost then finding the end to all beginnings
Bb/D Ab/D
Gave to me the key made of lead and golden
Gb/D [xx0676] E/D [xx0454]
Freeing locks, Pandora's boxes, devils are expended
D
And I'm finally free
Verse 3:
And when all the tears are finally cried
And I am finally clean inside
The gentle winds will come and they will dry my mind
And I will see the sparrow that need no longer fly
And all that will be left for me to do
Is die
[end cold on D(m)addE: xx0230]
